The article presents some of the tips that the author of a book about relationship doctor - patient, Barbara Korsch, provides to her readers in the book "The Intelligent Patient's Guide to the Doctor-Patient Relationship."
She considers that we should not hide certain medical information, although we're tempted to do it. It is important to tell your doctor if you have followed the treatment prescribed in the previous visit. If we didn`t followed the treatment and we hide this information the doctor notes that we have the same symptoms. He will prescribe a different treatment, probably wrong. The cause will be the wrong information that we gave him. The doctor may believe that previous treatment has not worked well.
Another information that needs to be specified to a doctor is about the diets, because hard diets can damage the kidneys and heart.
Questions regarding the sex of the patient are important for the doctor, he wants to find out possible causes of some disease. For example, some forms of papillomavirus can cause cervical cancer, if the treatment is not applied properly. The doctor can also help the woman to have a better sex life by taking hormone-based treatments.
Also, the diseases that the members of the family have had should not be hidden, we can prevent serious problem by some specific tests that the doctor prescribed.
