Summary:
The author believes that lack of focus on "person" and not just on "patient", on the individual characteristics and its concerns leads to an inappropriate clinical investigation, a non-adherence to treatment and default results below expectations. More and more studies show that doctors (health professionals) that take into account both the needs of the patient and his pathology get more specific information about his medical history. The results of an interview focused on patient enhance the satisfaction for both patients and medical staff. It can be said that physicians who choose to change the purely biological content of questions are more favored to overcome limits and identifying authentic approach.
Article highlights the most important benefits of communication for both medical staff and for children and families, principles of communication between medical staff and patient.
The first strategy is getting to know the subjective experience of the patient through the ability of being capable to explore how the patient feels the disease, its problems and concerns. Another strategy is to build a therapeutic relationship used to validate the patient and to be supportive - A strong therapeutic relationship with families offers both doctor and parents a sense of trust and understanding. Furthermore, loss of the therapeutic relationship leads to lower quality of the child health. Another way of communication consists in the involvement of patient in taking the medical decisions (where applicable). A very important communication strategy is harnessing the recovery potential of the patient through the ability of being capable to interact with him in order to develop its self-confidence. This article describes the communication strategies effectively in the responses from questions like: How to use these skills? How to implement these strategies? What is advisable to know about child patient?

The article highlights the importance of the appropriate communication between doctor and his patient. It is important that, scientific research have revealed the importance of centering both on patient needs and on its pathology, which help to obtain more specific information about the medical history of the patient.
