Summary:
The summary or this article in Spanish is translated into English:
From differentes scientific backgrounds a emphasis has been setted in the esential function that narrative develops in construction of identy and social interaction (Bruner, 1991; Hermans, 2004; Lucius-Hoene, 2002). But, theoretical and practical constructions of narrative psicology have not been applied to psico-social rehab of mentally ill people. This is a research on the changes in life narratives of schizofrenic patientes that live in Care-Homes belonging to a public fundation. They are worthy to reflect about the uses of narrative psicology in psico-social rehab.
Reviewer's comments on the document:
The research has made thorough 10 narrative interviews with paranoid schizophrenia in their living places. Of them 5 had just arrived to the Care-Home and the other 5 were there for more than 36 months. The conclusion was that there were several and signitivative diferences between the categories used by the patients to build their identity, there apeared a change in the emotional tone of their narratives and variations in the characteristics of those actors that intervene in those narratives. Those results are enough to think that it is very important to deepen in the reserarch and looking for new applications of the narrative method in those cases.
