Summary:
"The rate of children with disabilities has been on the increase in the last few years due to theadvancements in healthcare assistance. On the other hand, chronic diseases are reaching up to 10% of child population, of which is a great importance. Both situations require an interdisciplinary approach so as to attain an integrated and continuous assistance and a great effort of coordination between Primary Care and Specialized Assistance, as well.

If immediate family and close relatives play a great role in severe illnesses, chronic diseases and situations will have to involve the commitment of the society in order to integrate the handicapped as citizens with their full rights. Various classifications and conceptual methods about disabilities are available depending on the understanding of the disease or situations related to health, of which generates a certain degree of confusion in its terminology. The addition of Bioethics in the field of disabilities is fairly recent and the references to Paediatrics are carce, therefore causing numerous problems on the four classic principles of this discipline."

This article was chosen because it is very important, when giving attention to children whith disabilities, to rely in a multidisciplinary and very well trained team of proffesionals.
Childen that have any kind of disability have to develop their full capacity in an frienly enviroment. That means listen to them and their expressed necesities and treat them with a comperhensive approach in whic doctors, nurses, parents and teachers will be involved. Parents pedagogy in this sense can be very useful.
