The article present a resume of this project Assistance and advice office for people with disabilities: its purpose, objectives, duration and activities. To sum up:
1.The aim of the project is to improve living conditions and possible therapeutic treatment of persons with disabilities through rehabilitation and development of individual capacities and the family needed to overcome themselves in difficult situations.
2. The main objectives of the program are:
• Developing autonomy of people with disabilities through organization of activities, events for recreation and to broaden the social network of people with disabilities.
• Improving the level of information for people with disabilities and their families by providing advice / guidance to people with disabilities / family members.
• Improve the health of the project beneficiaries which are receiving physical therapy services at home for free.
• Overcoming the crisis by offering specialized counseling for people with disabilities / family members.
3. Period: 2001 to date
4. The program activities include:
• assistance in getting prosthetics, orthotics and various materials / equipment compensatory, therapeutic services;
• Information on existing social services for people with disabilities;
• creating and maintaining a database of services for people with disabilities;
• specialized guidance for disabled person and his family;
• organizing training courses;
• promoting the interests of disabled people in front of the different authorities;
• organization of events, actions and activities for people with disabilities and their families for recreation and expanding social network;
Reviewer's comments on the document:
Assistance given to disabled people include not only health home care services, but also offices that offer support in getting the needed equipment, to access therapeutic services, to constantly inform of the services they can access and other activities they can be involved in.
Therefore, a focus must be given also to the other social workers that work with patients as they also have an important role in the patient’s life.
