This article describes a palliative care center in Oradea for adults and children in terminal stage of an incurable disease. Hospice offers patients a familiar environment, in which both the environment and the relationship with nursing staff, they feel "at home" being treated with respect and dignity until the last moment of their life.
"Hospice Emanuel" Foundation from Oradea is a charity foundation, an NGO, which is engaged in the care of adults and children patients diagnosed with advanced incurable disease from Oradea and the surrounding area. The mission is to ensure the best quality of life of these patients and their families.
Hospice services are free and are offered without discrimination to eligible patients, children and adults, regardless of ethnicity, cultural or religious. Hospice team consists of doctors, nurses, social workers (with specialist training in palliative care) and volunteers, provide to patients' homes:
• medical services and nursing
• social services
• psycho-emotional support services and spiritual support
• support services for family bereavement
• voluntary service
The beneficiaries "Emanuel Hospice" are:
• adults diagnosed with advanced disease and terminal cancer, living in Oradea or towns located up to 15 km away
• children with oncological diseases, birth defects, AIDS and other diseases with limited prognosis, residing in localities of Bihor Oradea, located 50 kilometers away.
Objectives of "Emanuel Hospice" Foundation are:
• Providing palliative care to eligible patients
• Promoting the concept of hospice and palliative care
• Sustaining patient rights with advanced incurable disease to control pain and care appropriate to the needs of its complex.
The foundation has proposed to build a set of buildings in which to operate: an outpatient specialty, palliative care center at home for adults and children, centers for adults and children, a unit with 15 beds for adult palliative and 5 beds for children with advanced incurable diseases, education center in palliative care area.

The article presents the services and beneficiaries of charitable nongovernmental organizations, whose main activity is the care of patients, adults and children diagnosed with an advanced incurable disease from Oradea and the surrounding area. Through the services offered by this center, patients and their families manage to overcome the trauma of an incurable disease in terminal stage easily.
Also the foundation is a promoter of education in the field of palliative care.
