“Attention to the patients”

Gemma Díaz.
Language: English
Country: Spain
Typology: health care professionals
In my experience as we learnt deepness in the HEPPY project, I realized that sometimes, the patients need more direct attention to themselves, their thoughts and their psychology than the disease itself. Because it is true that the work of the doctor and the health professional is to cure, but sometimes we forget that a form of cure is to respond to the demands and concerns of the patients. In that way, when we pay attention to the patient, we are able to put ourselves in their place and meet exactly what he/she needs rather than be guided only by laboratory tests. From my point of view is very important a greeting, a loving gesture and a question on time to a patient instead of being very sure of the diagnosis and not refer any human attention to the patient.
