How I felt

Consuelo Gómez
Language: English
Country: Spain
Typology: patients and relatives
This person was on the road to recovery for a delicate intervention for 7 months, is 48 years old and despite his youth, was dependent during the time of recovery. The narrative medicine helped me understand it better, put me in his place and not lose patience. Sometimes, dependent people have mood swings and suffer not to be autonomous. Having learned during the course of the project some techniques of narrative medicine, could apply: active listening, empathy and attention to other personal factors of the patient. It was so, listening to Consuelo’s life story, as I learned to give motivations and dreams in their daily lives to help her overcome her illness.
