Typology: health care professionals
Patient, 40 years old, very depressed, crawled into her shell. At first very sad and lost in thoughts. After few days she was slowly accustoming to the sickness. The nurse started to educate the patient about the sickness that she has. After long discussions the nurse patiently and with understanding listened to the problems and fears of the patient. After 2 weeks patient started to accept her condition to live for and with her family. This case is useful for us nurses because it teaches us that our empathy and individual attitude towards the patient can help the patient to accept his/her sickness and it gives hope for further treatment and recovery.
